Move In Check List

Things to bring/ remember when you move in (a few basic things to remember):

  • Furniture- Houses are supplied unfurnished
  • Cleaning supplies, vacuum cleaner
  • Blinds/curtains for windows- We don't supply them because everyone has different tastes
  • Garbage and recycling cans- We don't provide them, plan on bringing your own (where applicable)
  • Call ahead to set up utilities
    • Electric/gas- Set up account with Central Hudson
    • Oil- Find an oil delivery company and establish an account, then have them fill your tank so you will have heat and hot water
    • Cable and Internet- Plan ahead so you can get up and running ASAP
    • Garbage Collection- Establish an account (where applicable) and get a copy of the garbage collection schedule

Things to remember when moving out:

  • Make sure you return your keys. There will be a charge to replace them if they are not returned
  • Make sure the house is just as clean when you leave as it was when you moved in. There will be a charge if any cleaning or garbage removal is required to bring the property back to the condition it was in when you received it
  • Leave forwarding instructions for where you want your security deposit refund (if applicable) to be sent.
  • Remember to cancel your utilities- call the companies and let them know when your last day of living in the house is so they can transfer the billing information to the next group of tenants.
